Medications That May Raise Cholesterol
According to the National Institutes of Health, some medications may also raise blood cholesterol so you must be aware of them. In addition, some medical conditions may cause a rise in cholesterol levels as well.
Medicines such as certain birth control pills, diuretics (water pills), beta-blockers, and some medicines used to treat depression may raise cholesterol levels.

Health conditions that may also lead to abnormal cholesterol levels include:
- Diabetes
- Kidney disease
- Polycystic ovary syndrome
- Pregnancy and other conditions that increase levels of female hormones
- Underactive thyroid gland
